All of our themes include a Default product template along with a set of predefined product templates to help you get started. By default, all products are assigned to the Default product template.
Any changes you make to a template will impact all products that use that template. If you want to display some product content differently, with its own unique content, then you can create a new template and assign it to those products to use.
Create a new product template
In the theme editor, click on the page selector at the top of the page, then click on Products, and then click Create template.
In the Create a template modal, enter a name for the new template in the Name field. Make sure Default product is selected under Based on, then click Create template.
Once the new template is created, you can start adding the sections you want to display on the page.
To assign products to a created template, open the product in your Shopify admin and select the template from the Theme template dropdown. You can also use Shopify’s bulk editor to assign the template to multiple products at once.
Note: Not seeing your new template in your product's template dropdown? Shopify only allows templates from the published theme to be assigned. Before publishing you can still use the editor to preview your new template.
