Are your themes ADA, WCAG, or WAI compliant?

Edited

Disclaimer: This is not legal advice. As with any legal requirement or compliance issue, the Archetype Themes terms and conditions do not guarantee that any theme is compatible or compliant with any legal or regulatory requirements or guidelines.

Shopify has ongoing initiatives to enhance accessibility across the Shopify platform, including themes, applications, and other components of the broader ecosystem.

At this time, Archetype themes are not guaranteed to be fully compatible with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Accessible Rich Internet Applications (ARIA), or W3C's Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) regulations or standards.

We plan to update all Archetype themes to meet WCAG 2.0 accessibility standards once Shopify provides further guidance and requirements. These updates will follow the timelines and deadlines set by Shopify.

Please be advised that even if WCAG 2.0 standards are implemented within the Shopify platform, full legal compliance may vary depending on jurisdiction, industry, or specific business requirements. It’s each store owner’s responsibility to make sure their store fully meets the laws and accessibility standards that apply to them.

As with other regulatory obligations (like GDPR), compliance is not limited to platform or theme functionality. Store owners may need to take additional actions to maintain compliance, and certain customizations or apps may adversely affect accessibility performance.

Should you face a legal complaint or accessibility-related lawsuit, it’s important to speak with a qualified lawyer in your jurisdiction as soon as possible. Always verify the lawyer’s credibility and ensure they do not engage in predatory practices or unnecessary high-cost billing.

Archetype Themes does not and cannot provide legal advice.

As outlined in our terms and conditions, Archetype themes are not guaranteed to conform with any law, regulation, or accessibility standard, and may require further customization or changes based on advice from a licensed attorney.
