Theme Licensing
Shopify themes are licensed for use on a single Shopify store only, as stipulated in Shopify's Terms of Service (Section 9.4 under "Additional Services"). Therefore, if you own multiple Shopify stores, you need to purchase a separate license for each store unless you’re using Shopify’s free themes.
Duplicating or using the same theme across multiple stores without purchasing additional licenses violates Shopify's terms and could lead to a DMCA takedown notice.
Transferring a Theme License
In certain cases, merchants can transfer their theme license to another Shopify store, but only under specific conditions.
Eligibility for License Transfer:
The transfer is allowed only if the original store is permanently closed.
Shopify requires that merchants contact their support team to initiate the transfer process.

Refund and Exchange Policies
Shopify enforces a strict ‘no refunds or exchanges’ policy for themes purchased from the Shopify Theme Store.
Why Refunds and Exchanges Are Restricted:
Nature of Digital Products:
Unlike physical goods, Shopify cannot verify whether a digital theme file has been used, duplicated, or distributed after purchase.
Prevention of Exploitation:
Offering refunds or exchanges could lead to abuse of the system, such as merchants using a theme temporarily and then returning it for a refund.
Although rare, Shopify may issue a refund or exchange on a case-by-case basis. Decisions are typically made at Shopify's discretion and are influenced by the circumstances presented by the merchant.
How to Request a Refund:
Merchants can submit their cases to Shopify Support by emailing [email protected]. While refunds are not guaranteed, providing a detailed explanation may improve the chances of consideration.
