For any section that includes an option for linking a background video, like the Video Hero section, follow these steps to upload and link your content.

In the Shopify admin, navigate to Content > Files, click the Upload file button, and begin uploading your video file. Once complete, it will appear in the file list with a URL (link) similar to https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1729/0003/files/v2_w_video.mp4?7151069111780353242. Copy this link to your clipboard.

After uploading your video to YouTube, you will be given a link to your video that can then be used on your Shopify store. It will look like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZNzMaQ4PYA or https://youtu.be/kZNzMaQ4PYA. Copy this link to your clipboard.

After uploading your video to Vimeo, you will be given a link to your video that can then be used on your Shopify store. It will look like https://vimeo.com/220859711. Copy this link to your clipboard.

Note: Vimeo does not support autoplaying on mobile.

In the theme editor, click the section of your choice (i.e. Video Hero) and paste your link into the Video link field. Your video is now in place and will autoplay without sound.

What if I want sound with my video?

Background videos are designed to grab attention with video content. Now that you've got your customer's attention, you may want to play a full video with sound for them as well. To do this, just paste the same video link into your section's Button link field and add some text like "Watch the video" to the Button text field. Impulse will then open the video in a full video player when that button is clicked.
